Is it just me, or are my neighbors insaaaaane?
So today I started my really fantastic summer job *fingers crossed a teaching job will pop up for me this fall* and while I was at work, my boyfriend had a pretty disturbing conversation with our neighbor.
From previous conversations we know that she is a “Christian”, whatever it is that means to her- it seems to mean different things to different people nowadays. And we know that she and her husband sleep in seperate bedrooms because his penis is apparently freakishly large- I assume so large that it needs it’s own side of the bed.
So she starts in on politics today, which I don’t discuss with people I don’t know well just because it’s such a personal issue. She starts talking about how she and her husband are stockpiling food, water, and supplies because in reading the bible they have somehow concluded that Obama is leading us into the end times. Back up for a minute- does that make ANY sense on really any level? I taught Sunday school for many years, and I don’t remember Obama ever being referenced in the bible.
She then goes on to say that her husband is terrified that we will no longer be able to purchase firearms, so in this panicked state he went out and bought guns. I’m sorry, but in this day and age- would it be so horrible if gun laws were a little more stringent? It really distrubs me that really any crazy person (such as the person who shot the doctor who performed abortions, or the man who attacked innocent people at the Holocaust museum) can just apply for and receive a gun.
I’m just frustrated that these crazy people live near me and are SO convinced that they are correct in their skewed belief system.

hold up on the gun law thing… most people that use guns to committ crimes… especially repeat offenders… get the firearm illegally to begin with… and quite frankly I hunt with both of mine… my problem is since obama came into office the price of ammunition sky rocketed… I hope it goes back down soon so I can get a few extras before it goes up again…

I have no problem with guns for hunting and self protection- my grandfather hunts for his own meat up in rural Oregon. It gets him outside, and quite frankly, I think hunting for your own food is more human and better for our planet than those meat factories. Not to mention all the growth hormones and junk that is injected into some meat- give me freshly hunted meat anyday! My dad has a gun, for protection and to blow off some steam at the shooting range.
However, my brother is a police officer and works in a large urban city in California- in the worst area. I can’t even tell you the amount of times that he has been shot at and had to take guns from people. True, some are gotten illegally- but some are not. I think the Holocaust shooting just really shoot me up because it makes me really face how much danger he is in daily, protecting everyday citizens. And then it makes me so angry that the government is forcing him to take a paycut because there is somehow no money in our treasury. I will also take one too as a teacher, but it’s just insulting to ask him to take one since he really is out there everynight making things safer.
